Here are a few of our favorite looks from Sachin + Babi's fall 2011 collection, one of the lines that will be upstairs for a trunk show during Fall Opening 2011, July 29 and 30. We really love this season's combination of tough, military-inspired elements with clean, minimalist shapes.

Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia had years of experience in the field of luxury textiles before launching their ready-to-wear collection (they're the team responsible for much of the unique textiles and couture hand-embroideries used by some of the industry's most celebrated fashion houses). Make plans to see the entire collection, and the incredible detail of their work, during Fall Opening. This will be one of seven second floor ready-to-wear trunk shows that weekend.

Diana Inman, founder of Dianaira, believes timeless apparel has three defining elements: color, fabric, and style. The versatile designs were originally made from Dianaira's 100% silk signature fabric. Two years ago, additional fabrics such as bamboo fabric, and blended fabrics were added, making Dianaira garments more comfortable and wearable.

Spring 2010 features a silk taffeta called bamboo pleat with water repellent properties, using various woven weights for cool or hot weather.

Myth has it that The Girl from Ipanema was inspired by Heloísa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto (now Helô Pinheiro), a fifteen-year-old girl living in Montenegro Street of the fashionable Ipanema district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Daily, she would stroll past the popular "Veloso" bar-café on her way to the beach, attracting the attention of regulars Jobim and Moraes.

To start off we have the Fall 2009 Trunk Show for Dianaira on Wednesday November 11th, and Thursday November 12 upstairs in Designer Apparel. This fine craftsman ship was started by French artist Rene Lalique. Lalique began his career working for some of the finest jewelry companies such as Cartier, Boucheron, and others. By 1890, Lalique was recognized as one of France's foremost Art Nouveau jewelry designers; creating innovative pieces for Samuel Bing's new Paris shop, Maison de l'Art Nouveau. He went on to be one of the most famous in his field, his name synonymous with creativity, beauty and quality. This week during Miss Jackson’s August crystal event series, Daum: Art Crystal et Luxe will be having a special unveiling for patrons only. Although Daum’s delicate line of Crystal works is well known throughout the world in high society circuits, this event is for everyone. Along with the presentation of Daum’s majestic 2009 Collection, Miss Jackson’s will also have a mold demonstration where children and adults can take their turn in the making of a handcrafted Daum crystal piece.

The Company of Daum has been around since 1878 when Jean Daum started a glassworks factory in Nancy, France where he started producing high quality decorative art glass. Daum has won several awards, including the Grand Prix at the Paris Exposition of 1900. After Jean’s death, his sons Auguste and Antonin later took over the studio and Daum began to grow and triumph during the Art Nouveau period. Daum’s wide assortment of glassworks has produced various styles of fine art, including Art Deco pieces in the 1920s. They didn’t begin producing their crystal line (which everyone is so familiar with) until the WW2 era.

Each Daum Crystal art work creation is signed with "Daum France" and numbered by hand. Daum´s perfect mastery of pate de verre has earned it a worldwide reputation for excellence. The artisans at Daum are able to capture both fine details and subtle contouring, and each glass sculpture will radiate with light and color, making it a beautiful addition to any home, and the perfect gift. Reminiscent of delicately created snowflakes, every single Daum crystal piece has its own individuality as they are hand-made. No two Daum crystals are exactly alike.
